I'm back in Washington now for another week or so. It's chilly but the fall leaves are gorgeous!

One thing I've noticed here (and in MN and Palm Springs) is how dry my skin is. At this time of year it's so important to take care of your skin and treat it with kindness. I'm sharing a few of my favorite Lemongrass Spa products for fall/winter below. A few are only around for a little longer so grab them while you can!

Asheville UPDATE!

Folks in Asheville are still struggling and especially now that it's getting colder since some people still don't have electricity. I'm sharing an organization below that's doing good work and helping on a local level. Zach's been volunteering with this group and has seen first-hand the devastation and struggle.

Zach does have electricity, and they have some water, but it's not good for anything but flushing toilets so they are still needing portable water for drinking and can't shower at home (every 4-5 days he has to go to a friends place to shower). I've just sent a portable shower to him so hopefully that will help. He is selling products online now that were meant for the grand opening of their retail space (the day after the hurricane). If you're looking for gifts, you can find some really fun and unique clothing and paintings and pins on Zach's website!

Light fixtures can impact your energy, more than you know!

When I was visiting my client Debbie's home, she asked me what I thought of this light fixture. It's definitely unique, but it made me uncomfortable. Why?

The feng shui of it is that the downward spikes of this light fixture create arrows in a number of different directions so you may feel attacked no matter where you are sitting in this room. She had been thinking of changing the fixture anyway, so she appreciated my perspective.

Here are a few more tips about LIGHTING:

Lights are fire energy
In the winter or evenings, we need more lighting to raise our energy and help us feel warmer. If you're feeling low energy, consider turning on more lights in the house or even getting a fire going in the fireplace!
Choose fixtures that feel calming
You want to feel calm and balanced in your space, not stressed so choose fixtures that feel good to you when you look at them.
For basements or low ceilings
To raise the energy of a space, especially spaces like basements and those attics with low ceilings, choose torche lights. These are lights that shine up instead of down. This helps raise the ceiling and lift the energy in a space. These are particularly important for basement bedrooms!
If you're selling your home
Make sure all the bulbs are the same color and tone. It makes a difference in the feel of the space being balanced. So go through the house and change out the bulbs as needed so they all match.
