Bedroom mistake #2 is having too much "active" energy in your bedroom.
Active energy can take many forms:
- Doors
- Windows
- Mirrors
- Books
- Bright lighting
- Electronics (TVs, Cell phones emit EMFs)
- Vibrant wall colors or artwork
- Busy bedspreads
- Work
- Exercise equipment
In the picture above, there is active energy behind the headboard in the form of a large window. To the left of the bed there is a large mirrored closet (and by the way, you do NOT want to see yourself in a mirror when you are in bed!). And to the right of the bed there is a doorway. With all this active energy assaulting the occupants of this bedroom from all sides, I imagine they would have difficulty
sleeping!
Let's look at a few more examples of active energy in the bedroom...
Case Study 1:
My client Elaine had a beautiful home in Minneapolis, which she loved. She wasn't sleeping well, though her husband was not having any difficulty sleeping. When I looked at her bedroom I could immediately identify the issue. There was too much energy coming at her from the bedroom door while she slept (she
slept closest to the door). I recommended placing a simple remedy and she began sleeping so much more soundly!
Case Study 2:
My client Margo was feeling a lot of
pressure related to work and creating a successful business after her divorce. To keep her priorities top of mind she had placed a white board with all her "To Do" items on her Vision Wall at the bottom of her bed. This white board was the first thing she saw in the morning and the last thing she saw at night. This made it difficult for her to rest and relax in the evenings and she also felt pressure in the morning to get up and go. I recommended she move the white board to her office
area and place a lovely landscape picture at the foot of her bed instead.
Case Study 3:
My client Elda had a large spacious bedroom, yet when I entered the room,
I felt a bit claustrophobic. She also was wanting to lose extra weight that she had put on over time. What I immediately noticed is that she had several bookshelves filled with books throughout her bedroom.
Books are very heavy energy (which can correlate to extra weight on the body) and the words within the books are "active" so having a lot of books in your bedroom means those words are all floating
around the room while you sleep! It took some time, but she did find another location in her home for her books and she felt she could breathe easier and be more visible in her life as well.
The thing I love about feng shui is that there are many ways to
shift the energy to create a room that feels relaxing, restful and romantic.
